Polyhexanide (polyhexamethylene biguanide) (PHMB) is a polymeric substance that broadly used as disinfectant and antiseptic. It was shown to be suitable for clinical use in critically colonized or infected acute chronic wounds since it exhibits broad antimicrobial spectrum combined with good cell tissue tolerability low risk of contact sensitization.
